I must admit, Valentines day isn't my thing, especially after Christmas, I just need a break. But then it rolls around and something sneaks into the decor. Last year, I had some scraps left over so I made this simple heart garland super easily. It probably took me about 1/2 hour max!

What I love about this project is that it is a quick project that you can do during a quick break. And if your kids need a sewing project, then they can easily do this with you. Have you caught my drift yet about how I craft and sew? I like a good easy project.
How to Sew an Easy Scrap Fabric Heart Garland
Step 1: Cut Hearts. For these hearts, I wanted them to feel whimsical so I simply cut some hearts out on paper until I got a desired shape. I then placed my heart pattern on top of two layers of the same fabric and cut out a fabric heart. I did this with five different types of fabric (you could also choose to add interface to give it more structure).
Step 2: Sew or glue.
I then sewed around the edge of the heart. You could also simply use fabric glue to hold the heart together if you'd like. I then attached twine with my sewing machine. And that's it! So simple yet very pretty and classy.
I hung my homemade heart garland on my winter wreath and I love it next the greens. You can make fewer or more hearts to make a garland. Or you could make a few and give them as valentines.
So many different ways to use these. I love that I can use my scraps and favorite fabrics.
