One of my favorite DIY home decor items we have are our DIY clipboards. I love using them to change out pictures of my kiddos throughout the year and being in our kitchen they are very much seen. From making those clipboards, I had once clip left over and have been meaning to make another clipboard.
These days, most of my scheduled stuff goes on my google calendar, but I still like a hard copy to use for our menu and random other details. However, my calendar usually ends up placed on the side of the fridge and is constantly falling. And so, I decided a clipboard to hold my Calendar would be perfect. (ps...This I made this calendar and I will soon be sharing it on here so stay tuned!!)

Making it was really simple. Last time I used a 1x12 but we had some thick pieces of plywood scraps in our scrap wood pile that just happen to be the perfect size. My husband cut the frame out of scrap wood, but we have made frames like this before with 1"x1/2" wood from Lowes/Home Depot. I wanted to add some mint color to it and came up with the scallop design and LOVE how it turned out.
DIY Framed Clipboard
Supplies:
1"x12" wood or thick 3/4" plywood - cut to desired clipboard size. (This one below is 11x15)
1"x1/2" wood for frame - 2 pieces cut to the width of your board and 2 pieces cut the length PLUS 1" (they will need to overlap over the top and bottom frame pieces
1"x1/2" wood for frame - 2 pieces cut to the width of your board and 2 pieces cut the length PLUS 1" (they will need to overlap over the top and bottom frame pieces
1 || Paint your trim/frame pieces and stain your clipboard. After the stain has dried, spay it with the protect enamel.
2 || After that the protective enamel has dried, you can now add your vinyl and you can screw on your clipboard clip.
3 || Add some glue to the inside of your frame and carefully add it to the board. We like to wrap webbing and a fastener around it to help set the glue. You could set objects all around the board to create this same affect. And that's it!
