I really love Spring, my favorite season. I love that it's just the perfect temperature to be outside without being too cold or too hot. But, we've been having some sunny and hot days and it's getting me ready for summer.
The silhouette challenge group's challenge this month was on summer and after seeing some tshirts at Joanns I decided I needed a shirt with my favorite summer things: Sunshine, the beach and ice cream (well this really is my favorite any time of the year :). So I came up with this shirt:
Sunshine.
Sea Salt.
And Ice Cream.
And I love everything about it. Last summer I used heat transfer vinyl for the first time making this pineapple shirt. You can get the design at the silhouette design store; design #86197
DIY Summer T-Shirt using Heat Transfer Vinyl
Supplies:
***OR if you don't have a cutting machine - Get these Iron On letters
your desired image (You can get my silhouette file for Sunshine. Sea Salt and Ice Cream HERE for free)
1|| Prepare Design
When you go to cut out your design, make sure on your silhouette program it is mirror image (it should look backwards to you). I seem to ALWAYS forget this and then I waste vinyl and have to cut again. DON'T repeat my mistake!!
2|| Cut
Make sure the shiny part of the HTV is facing down on your cutting mat (you don't need a cutting mat, but I like to use it because I think it keeps things secure when cutting).
3|| Iron on
After the words/image is cut, place onto your shirt. Grab some spare fabric and place it on top of your design. Pressing hard and moving in circles, iron each area for 30 to 60 seconds. Don't linger too long in one area or else it could melt the vinyl. Just keep checking to make sure. That's it! super easy if you don't make the same mistakes I do : ).
